Last fall, I travelled for work to Orlando to co-facilitate a retreat and my family decided to join me on the trip so we could stay a few extra days and go to Walt Disney World (one of my favorite places). We made the decision for them to join me TWO days before the trip and flights were insanely expensive at that point. So, we decided to drive from Nashville to Orlando (instead of flying) and split up the long drive to Orlando into 2 days. We stayed in Atlanta the first night of our drive and spent an afternoon at the Georgia Aquarium. Josh and I had visited before (pre-kids) and returning with Jonas was nothing short of magical. So many of their exhibits are immersive and make you feel like you’re in the water...I might've teared up at the beauty of it all a few times.
The Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the U.S. and it has EVERYTHING (penguins, dolphins, whales, otters, sharks, and the list goes on). I would definitely plan to spend almost an entire day there, especially if you want to catch some of the shows and presentations. I’m bummed we missed the dolphin show by just a few minutes. We still got to see them swimming and Jonas was mesmerized. Swimming with dolphins is definitely a bucket list item for me now.
If you’re ever near the area or driving through Atlants, GO to the Georgia Aquarium. We are going to have to go back soon because is STILL talks about it.
Stare down with a Croc (I think).
Jonas, his daddy, and a whale.
We were grinning like this pretty much the entire time.
