Weekly Recap: Sept 4
Happy September friends! I've been listening to some Gary V content recently and he's really helped my shift my thought process behind social media in general (warning: there's quite a bit of language if you decide to listen to the linked video). Instead of putting tons of pressure on yourself to always be creating content, he encourages you to just document what you're already doing! This made me think about all my favorite people that I follow and realized that almost all they do is share their life! I'm an over-achiever and have been putting tons of pressure on myself to constantly write deeply thoughtful posts, but I just don't have tons of time to write frequently. So, I'm going to start sharing a weekly recap with you all to share a bit about what life looks like every day in my family, share what I'm learning and probably ask for advice because I feel like every day with Jonas requires me to learn something new. Added bonus, this will help me document how quickly Jonas is growing up!
Monday & Tuesday: I'm grouping these two days together because my whole little family was down for the count with a cold flu thing for a few days. So, we did nothing fun on Labor Day, barely left our house and took tons of naps. Over the weekend, I visited Lemon Laine for the first time (such a dreamy space) and picked up a Twigs + Roots Vapor Rub that smells heavenly and was able to use that on Jonas to help with his cough. Literally perfect timing! I wanted to diffuse some essential oils but you're not supposed to diffuse peppermint if you're breastfeeding (it can dry you up). So, I had to do some research and started diffusing myrrh. Any other holistic tips to help with congestion and runny noses?
Wednesday: We rejoined society after being sick! Jonas went to school and I was able to go into the office for a bit and get some work done. Unfortunately, Jonas hasn't fully acclimated to his new school yet. He has meltdowns in the morning because he's still used to a morning nap and they don't nap at school until after lunch time. So, I have to pick him up at 12:30 which only give me a few hours to work each day, but I'm making it up other times. #mamasgottahustle My work team took a little field trip to our new office and I'm so excited for us to move out of a tiny coworking space into our own office and make it our own.
Thursday: Jonas only goes to school part-time and I only work Monday-Wednesday. So, no school or work and we just hung out! We were able to make it to a Baby Sign Language Story Time at the Nashville Public Library. In order to help Jonas transition into school, we are having to implement a nap time schedule and routine. This means I have to keep him awake until after lunch when he would be able to take a nap at school. It's been a rough journey. I just want to pick him up when he's upset. Anyone else experience this with your kids when they started going to school? Any tips?
Friday: The weather was Fall vibes perfection, so we met our friends at the zoo! It's so fun to have a friend who is a little bit more experienced in the mom world to be able to pick her brain. She definitely helps me feel a little less crazy. The Nashville Zoo is so great to walk around when it's not too hot.
Saturday: Before having a baby, I worked out 3-4 times a week and loved it. I used ClassPass and was able to try all the different gyms and classes in Nashville. Now that I'm a mom, finding time to make it to a gym is so hard. Thankfully, Josh frequently is available to hang with Jonas so I can make a BarreAmped class on Saturday mornings. After trying so many classes and gyms, this is the one I keep returning to! I love the classes, staff and supportive environment.
Sunday: We actually made it to church this morning! This is no longer an easy feat because Jonas' scheduled nap time is during 2nd service, which means it's 1st service or nothing. We tried to hike at Radnor Lake in the afternoon, but literally everyone else had the same idea because the weather was so amazing and there was NO parking. So we gave up and grabbed burgers at M.L. Rose, Burgers instead of hiking...oops!
Side note: I've been obsessively keeping up with Hurricane Irma coverage and an saying prayers for everyone affected.
That's it! Looking forward to hearing your suggestions. Now get to bed and crush your Monday!
